A few years ago, at Sigma we developed our sustainability strategy, specifically focused on the cold meats and dairy business in Mexico. During this time, the company has grown through acquisitions, mergers and commercial agreements of companies not only in Mexico, but also in the United States, Latin America and Europe. Through the integration of these companies, we have realized that sustainability is part of the culture of each company, although with different approaches and projects.
Therefore, in 2017, we conducted a materiality analysis that reflects the importance that these issues have for our organization and interest groups at a global level. For this, we made a comparative study with companies in the industry, considering suppliers, customers and other groups of interest. At the same time, we evaluate the relevance that these matters have for Sigma, through a collaborators survey from all the organizational units.
